1. Assessment Sessions

An assessment session is the first step in understanding each child’s unique abilities, challenges, and needs. During this session, a team of professionals—including special educators, therapists, and psychologists—conducts comprehensive evaluations covering physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development. Standardized tools and observational techniques are used to identify strengths and areas requiring support, such as speech, motor skills, learning abilities, and sensory processing.

2. Classroom Training

Classroom training at our school is designed to meet the diverse needs of children with physical and mental disabilities. Each class room is as per special schools norm for allowing to individualized. Teachers are specially trained in special education and use adaptive teaching methods, visual aids, and assistive technology to enhance learning.

3. Speech Therapy

Speech therapy services address a wide range of communication challenges, including articulation, language development, fluency, voice, and social communication skills. Certified speech-language therapists work individually or in small groups with students to improve their ability to express themselves and understand others. 

4. Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is provided by registered physiotherapists who help children improve their physical abilities, mobility, and independence. Therapy sessions focus on developing motor skills, strength, balance, and coordination, often using specialized equipment and exercises tailored to each child’s abilities. Physiotherapists also work closely with teachers and families to integrate movement and physical activity into the child’s daily routine.

5. Resource Room Training

The resource room is a supportive learning environment where students receive individualized or small-group instruction outside the regular classroom. Special education teachers use customized teaching strategies and materials to address specific learning challenges in areas such as reading, math, or social skills.

6. Sensory Room Training

Sensory room training offers children a safe, stimulating environment equipped with specialized tools and activities designed to engage the senses—sight, sound, touch, and movement. These rooms help children with sensory processing difficulties regulate their responses to sensory input, reduce anxiety, and improve focus.

7. Vocational Training

Empowering Special Needs Individuals

Providing vocational training to individuals with intellectual disabilities is crucial for helping them achieve independent living with dignity and self-esteem. Our institution is dedicated to equipping them with practical skills based on their abilities and levels of cognitive development.

Self-Help Projects

Our team trains students in crafting and producing various items, including:
Candles
Liquid Cleaners
Masala Grinding & Packing
Envelopes & Bags
Decorative Materials & Other Useful Products

These self-help projects enable them to become self-reliant by selling their handmade goods. To promote their work, we organize stalls at various locations across the city, especially during festive occasions and other important events.

8. Mess Service

Our mess service ensures that all students receive nutritious, balanced meals tailored to their dietary needs and medical requirements. Meals are prepared under hygienic conditions, with attention to food allergies, texture modifications, and feeding assistance for children who require help.

9. Bus Service

The school’s bus service provides safe, reliable transportation for students with physical and mental disabilities. Buses are equipped with accessibility features such as ramps, lifts, and secure seating to accommodate wheelchairs and mobility aids. Trained attendants assist students during boarding, travel, and drop-off, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey.

10. Playground

The institute provides a safe and spacious playground where students engage in physical activities, games, and inclusive sports. It supports their physical development, social interaction, and overall well-being.

11. Children's Park

A fully child-friendly and accessible park is available on the premises. It is designed with safe, inclusive play equipment suitable for children with diverse needs, promoting fun, interaction, and sensory development in a secure environment.

12. Rehabilitation & Placement Services

ADWS is dedicated to educating, training, rehabilitating, and empowering special children, ensuring they achieve independence through meaningful employment.

Our special educators regularly monitor these employees to ensure their well-being and success in their roles.

13. Project "WINGS" – Empowering Special Children

The Indian Red Cross Society, District Branch Hoshiarpur has launched a unique project named “WINGS” (Wings to Intellectually Gifted Stars) to provide skill development & livelihood opportunities for special children.

Project Highlights:

📅 Launched on: 21st December 2023
🎯 Objective: Training special children to run Tuck-Shop businesses
🏫 Beneficiaries: 7 special children from Jagjit Singh Sachdeva Asha Kiran Special School, Jahan Khelan, Hoshiarpur

🏪 Govt. I.T.I, Hoshiarpur
🏪 Red Cross Office, Hoshiarpur
🏪 Punjab University Swami Sarvanand Giri Regional Centre, Bajwara, Hoshiarpur
🏪 Army CSD canteen at Hoshiarpur

These 7 special children are successfully operating these tuck-shops, serving a customer base of 8,500+ people. Each child receives a monthly honorarium of ₹6,000, with potential future increments based on profitability.

This project is run under the supervision of the District Red Cross Society, Hoshiarpur.
