Vision: A few philanthropists of Hoshiarpur, headed by NRI Sh. Tegpal Singh, thought of providing a shelter to the mentally challenged children of Hoshiarpur and this thought came into reality by the formation of ASHADEEP WELFARE SOCIETY in August 1995.

Home Special Home: “Ashakiran – Special school for Mentally challenged children” a project of Ashadeep Welfare Society was started in the year 1995 in one room, one chair and two benches provided by Smt. Tripta Devi Sud and Dr. Shiv Charan Dass Sud Trust, opposite DAV Sr. Sec. School, Hoshiarpur with Miss. Reena Sharma as incharge and two staff members. There were four children to start with. This number increased within short span of time & so the need of some bigger place. At that time another philanthropist  Sh. Om Parkash Sood was approached who offered rent free occupation at Thakar Dass Sood Sarai, Una Road, Hoshiarpur. The school was shifted to that  building in the year 1997 but with the increase in the number of children this building was again found insufficient to accommodate children and staff. Now the management was in search for a piece of land to build own school building. Then with the kind cooperation of Col. A.S. Gill and Sarpanch Sh. Jugal Kishore and gram panchayat of village Jahan Khelan gave One Acre of land for the construction of the school building in the year 2002 and construction of school building was started with the blessings of Mahant Pritpal Singh ji of Gurdwara Mitha Tiwana, Hoshiarpur.

Helping Hands: After the construction of one block of the building school was shifted to Jahan Khelan in the month of July 2005. Now the main agenda of the society was to complete the building and to increase the number of students. Major contribution for construction came from Smt. Ambika Soni, Member Parliament who gave a grant of 15 Lacs from the MP Local Area Development Fund. Some business associates of Sh. Paramjit Sachdeva from Mumbai visited the school in 2006. They were so impressed by the working of the school that they donated Rs. 12 Lacs for the construction of school building. A special block was named after their common friend Late Sh. NIRMAL BANG. During this period S. Jagjit Singh Sachdeva, father of S. Paramjit Singh Sachdeva expired untimely. S. Paramjit Sachdeva gave considerable amount for the construction of school building. Keeping in view the contribution by Sh. Paramjit Sachdeva name of the school was changed as Jagjit  Singh Sachdeva Ashakiran Special School in Dec. 2008.
